  • Explain how curiosity counters anxiety and how to create curious classrooms (5)
  • Review strategies for self-care, resilience, and change for educators and leaders (6)
  • List the benefits of games, design thinking, and curiosity for math and reading (7)
  • Explain the need for purpose, meaning, and exploration in uncertain times (8)
  • Develop strategies to strengthen student resilience and agency for achievement (9)
  • Explore how to create schools of belonging and how to promote positive self-stories (10)

#1. Heal Your Self, Heal Your Classroom

LEARNING OBJECTIVES


SLP participants will be able to:
 

  • Describe and discuss the stresses educators and clinicians are facing in today's complicated climate
  • Review brain research that shows how a prioritization of self-care and compassion can result in better classroom and clinical outcomes
  • Demonstrate mindfulness practices and relaxation techniques and develop strategies to bring this knowledge into your classroom or practice

  • Review the concepts of self-doubt and defeat from a neurobiological perspective
  • Explore how letting go of both self-doubt and fear of failure can lead to success
  • Develop strategies to navigate the discomfort of fear of failure and self-doubt in order to move past both
