The reading wars debate has continued for decades. Influencers and companies frequently make strong claims, as to what matters most for reading instruction. However, the instructional practices that are promoted as evidence-based are not always well researched. In this lecture, I will discuss the importance of using meta-analysis for determining what is evidence-based and the pedagogies that have the strongest research evidence.
