Welcome to San Francisco

If you’re a regular blog reader, you just might be a frequent Learning and the Brain conference attendee. (I got my start in 2007, and haven’t stopped since.)

We’re gathering — starting tomorrow! — at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco to discuss Educating with Empathy: cultivating kindness, compassion, empathy, and good behavior.

Many of the speakers have featured recently on the blog. John Medina’s most recent book has shown up at least twice.

Rebecca Gotleib — this blog’s book reviewer — will be presenting on the power of teens’ social-emotional skills.

And I’ll be offer a pre-conference session: “Understanding Adolescence, Teaching Adolescents.” We’ll be talking about teenage cognition, emotion — and even technology use.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know many of you over my blogging years. I hope you’ll stop by and introduce yourselves! I’m easy to find: I look a lot like the guy on the right…
