CE Credits

Please read the following information regarding CE requirements

Certificates of attendance are suitable for use to meet professional development requirements for educators and clinicians. Attendees can earn up to 20 contact hours of credit by attending the five-day institute. See details on the number of hours and types of credit below.

In order to receive any professional development credits, you must fill out the evaluation/learning outcomes questionnaire and leave the form with institute staff. Certificates will be emailed to you 2-3 weeks after the institute.

You can also receive additional credits by writing a paper on how you applied what you learned. For more details and questions, contact the CE Director, Kristin Dunay at (781) 449-4010 ext. 102.

Credits for Speech/Language Pathologists

The program offers2.0 CEUs (Intermediate level; Professional area).Neuroscience and Classroom Engagement

SLP participants will be able to

Examine ways to maximize and maintain student attention and focus
Demonstrate strategies to teach students at all grade levels about their brains to empower their learning
List ways to descrease the fear of mistakes to increase student and class participation
Demonstrates strategies to increase encoding and mental manipulation for memory retrieval and retention
Employ brain-friendly strategies to advance student achievement and problem solving
Discuss recent advances in neuroscience research that ignite student motivation and engagement
Apply the benefits of the video game model, such as reaching individual challenge levels and self-recognition of incremental progress, to increase student motivation, effort and perseverance

Judy Willis, MD, MEd, is a neurologist and credentialed teacher. She has combined her training in neuroscience and neuroimaging with her teacher education training and years of classroom experience. Dr. Willis is an authority in the field of learning-centered brain research and teaching strategies derived from this research and has spoken at national and international educational conferences. Dr. Willis has written six books on this topic, contributed extensively to educational journals and conducts interactive professional development workshops throughout the United States and internationally. Financial disclosure – Dr. Willis is receiving a speaking fee for her presentation. She is an author with ASCD for which she receives royalty payments. Non-financial disclosure – Dr. Willis has no relevant non-financial relationships to disclose.

Malana Willis, MEd, teaches elementary school in Santa Barbara, CA. Previously she taught elementary school in Oakland, CA for over five years, taught at the American School of Bilbao in Spain and worked at the UCSB Autism Clinic. She received her Masters Degree in Education and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from UC Berkeley and her BA in psychology from Williams College. Financial disclosure – Ms. Willis is receiving a speaking fee for her presentation. Non-financial disclosure – Ms. Willis has no relevant non-financial relationships to disclose.

Credits for Psychologists and School Psychologists

Public Information Resources, Inc. (PIRI) is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. PIRI maintains responsibility for the program. Psychologists and school psychologists must complete the evaluation form in their program book in order to receive credits. This program will provide 20 hours of CEs.

Credits for Educators: State Department of Education

PIRI is able to provide credits that qualify for the education departments in most states and are accepted by most districts. You may wish to check whether your state's Department of Education requires special approved provider status. PIRI is a specifically approved provider in the Departments of Education in the states of TX and CT.

Credits for School Social Workers

Public Information Resources, Inc., has applied for up to 20 Category I credits to social workers through the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) collaborative through Boston College and Simmons College Schools of Social Work.

Credits for Educational Therapists

Public Information Resources, Inc. is approved to provide continuing education credits for Education Therapists through The Association of Educational Therapists (AET). This program will provide 20 hours of CEs.

Certificate of Attendance

Public Information Resources, Inc. will provide a certificate of attendance for 20 hours for participation in this program.
