Whether you are new to SEL or an expert in the discipline, this webinar will provide you with an innovative approach using SEL to build both your own and your students' self-awareness, regulation strategies, and relationship skills so that no student falls through the cracks. Join Carla Tantillo Philibert for a trauma-informed approach to Social Emotional Learning that unpacks the "How To" behind effective school-wide SEL implementation. Learn best practices for supporting all students in every part of the school day, so SEL becomes an ongoing and overarching practice to be cultivated as part of a school culture, rather than the occasional lesson, meeting, or check-in.
 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will learn be able to:

  • Participants will be able to define and brainstorm what whole-school SEL supports they will need to implement
  • Participants will be able to reflect on how to make whole-school SEL supports that are most effective for self-regulation, relationships, and self-awareness skills
  • Participants will be able to identify the connection between Adult and Student SEL, and why both matter

Philibert

Carla Tantillo Philibert founded Mindful Practices in 2006, and since then, her team has worked with over 300 schools and 100,000 students across Chicago, the United States, and internationally to provide educator professional development, in-school and remote learning Pre-K to 12th grade student classes, after school programming, and parent and community support in wellness, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), yoga, mindfulness and the arts. Mindful Practices’ staff takes pride in providing engaging and relevant programming designed to bring all members of the school into a learning community built on relationships, support and connection. In addition to leading the MP team, Carla is the author of Cooling Down Your Classroom (2012), and the Everyday SEL series (Routledge, 2016 & 2017). Carla has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, is a certified yoga teacher and is a founding teacher and curriculum director of a high school in Chicago. She has taught at both the elementary and secondary levels, is the co-creator of Hip-Hop Yoga, and is a highly qualified professional development provider. Carla has presented in Ireland, Canada, Greece, Spain, India, and Mexico.
