SLP participants will be able to:

  • Explore the science of self-esteem, awareness, and actualization
  • Describe how children's sense of self and worth develop early in life
  • List ways that students' self-concepts and beliefs affect achievement
  • Develop methods to teach students to be more aware, acccepted, and confident
  • Review how to change students' self-concepts and narratives to change behavior
  • Describe how curiosity and awe motivate math and science learning and thinking
  • Explain how Maslow's "Heirarchy of Needs" connects to learning and wellbeing
  • List ways to cultivate self-awareness, acceptance, esteem, and confidence
  • Create ways to incorporate "authenticity" and self-care in teaching and leading
  • Analyze ways to use self-stories and self-efficacy for improving school climate
  • Develop strategies to improve the confidence and self esteem in an age of selfies and "likes"
