We keep hearing about the bene ts of mindfulness with our kids, but how can we really make it stick in our schools and practices? Join bestselling author, psychologist, and consultant Dr. Christopher Willard in this one-day workshop on bringing mindfulness to children and teens in the classroom, clinic, and beyond. Dr. Willard will share proven practices for professionals to use themselves and show how to integrate these practices into their work with children and adolescents. We will explore the research behind mindfulness, including the latest from advances in the neurobiology of learning and emotions.Mindfulness is more than just breathing, and so is this workshop, which will be a fun day of learning and practicing mindfulness through awareness, movement, games, play, and creative activities for all ages that you can share with your classroom or practice immediately. We will discuss tailoring techniques to a range of issues, including learning differences, mental health issues, resistance and more, for attention spans ranging from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.

This seminar runs from 8:15 am to 2:30 pm at the Crowne Plaza White Plains - Downtown.

• Understand the basics definitions of mindfulness to explain it simply to a child
• Learn the basic neuroscience of mindfulness and mind-body interventions on the stress response
• Explore simple, short effective mindfulness practices to use in the classroom or practice
• Discover new ways to engage kids and get them buying into mindfulness practice and its benefits
• Consider a range of adaptations for unique learning styles and mental health concerns
• Examine ways to integrate mindfulness systemically into your school or clinic

Christopher Willard, PsyD is a psychologist, teacher at Harvard Medical School, and an educational consultant specializing in mindfulness. He has been practicing meditation for 20 years, and leads workshops nationally and internationally. Dr. Willard currently serves on the board of directors at the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy, and is the president of the Mindfulness in Education Network. He has presented at TEDx conferences and his thoughts have appeared in the New York Times, The Washington Post, mindful.org, and elsewhere. He is the author of Child's  Mind (2010), Growing Up Mindful (2016), and Raising Resilience (2017).
